GRADE 1 MALIBU SANTA ANITA RACE 9

The grade 1 Malibu will be run today at Santa Anita Park race 9 today. It should be a pretty contentious field with prices throughout. If you have a pick go with it, most likely it will pay well. There are a few horses in here that can step up to win this so if you have a better feeling take it. My picks:

KINSELLA- Top Pick. Should get a stalking trip with speed inside of him and a couple other horses that should show speed, Supreme Summit, Join in the Dance and M One Rifle. This colt has run well with 2 wins over firm turf which should translate well to this track. His two other finishes were over yielding and good turf, so maybe a couple excuses. Will have to step up in class to get it done but with Gomez and Pletcher together should be in the perfect spot to take this one.

MISREMEMBERED- Will be on the lead. Great post compared to the 12 post he had last out in the Clark H. where he finished 2nd. Cutting back in distance so he should be able to last. Morning line favorite should be pressured enough to set fast fractions, will it be enough to wear him down?

MYTHICAL POWER- Has done nothing wrong, finishing no worse than 3rd in 5 starts. Gets a hot jockey in Rosario and has been training greatover this track. Did not disappoint as the favorite in May in the Louisiana Derby. Coming off a layoff but should be able to be in a good position to get on the board.

The picks are 1,2,5

Good Luck.

G1 CASH CALL FUTURITY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

The grade 1 Cash Call Futurity will be held at Hollywood Park on saturday. It features four horses that have seen each other before in the Breeders Cup Juvenile and also some horses that have looked good in other MSW and graded stakes races.

This race sets up for someone to take them wire to wire, but who will it be. The Program could show some good speed with some fast 4f works this month. Brady Blue Eyes could go out with him. If The Program gets out to an easy lead and is able to set his own pace he could take this race. The Program is one to think about in here.

My choice is Lookin at Lucky. He has been training extremely well and just missed in the Breeders Cup Futurity when he came from 8 lengths off. In that race he had a lot more traffic and post position 13 to contend with and was still able to run them down. He should be in a much better position here and should be able to overtake the pacesetters in this one. But he does need a little pace, if it is not there he could be in a stalking trip and should still be able to win.

Noble's Promise should also be there in the end. This horse has shown the ability to run well over 4 different tracks and should do well in here also. He also wants to sit off the pace but should be in a good position to take over in the stretch. If he runs back to the Breeders Cup Futurity in Keeneland he could take this field, but he was run down by Lookin at Lucky in the Breeders Cup Juvenile and it could happen again in here.

The picks are as follows:
Lookin at Lucky- should be able to run them down and outrun Noble's Promise.
Noble's Promise- Should be with Lookin at Lucky, but just like the last time will get overtaken.
The Program- Could get out to an easy lead and take them wire to wire. Long shot play.

Good luck to all of you, let me know how you do and hopefully I helped you hit a good one.

RACING SCHEDULE

A tough loss in the Native Diver this past weekend. Mast Track got an easy lead, which I figured and got away with easy fractions. The pace wasn't enough to allow the closers to get up and Mast Track got the win. Looking back I should have included Mast Track knowing that she was the lone speed in here, so mistake on my part. High Court Drama did run a nice race at good odds but just couldn't overtake the unpressured Mast Track.

This weekend will be the closing weekend for Hollywood Parks fall meet. There are a couple good grade 1 events in the Cash Call Futurity and the Hollywood Starlet. Check back for more analysis on these races. Until then good luck.

GRADE 3 NATIVE DIVER AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

The 1 1/8 grade 3 Native Diver at Hollywood Park should be a well contested race today. It also could mark the comeback of Lava Man for Doug O'Neill. The following is my analysis of the race. Good luck today.

1-Mast Track. Close to the pace in his last when he gave up the lead and lost to Neko Bay. Coming off a two month layoff and the post position will have him firing out on the lead, and I don't think he can get it done in here. Asconio has done well with his horses since taking over for Frankel but going with others in here.

2-Lava Man. If he goes today, O'Neill says it is unlikely, It would be a great story after the 17 month layoff. He has been training well with a couple bullet 6 furlong works. If he is ready he can get it done in here but I think I will give him a race or two.

3-Square Eddie. At his longest distance to date. he has been overmatched sprinting in his last two. Working well but he won't get it done today.

4-Neko Bay. 3rd race off layoff should give this horse his best effort. Won going a mile his first back. He pressed the pace and then gave way in the mile.Breeders Cup dirt mile. Should be in the mix today. Sherrifs is .38 in graded stakes races.

5-High Court Drama. 8-1 morning line, but probably will be bet down in half (at least). Impressive win off layoff at this distance and experience on polytrack where he runs well. Good post position will allow him to sit off pace and over take the pacesetters. Baze and O'Neill are .23 win percentage together. Horse also carries the lightest weight in the field today and his lightest weight yet by 7 pounds. The pick.

6-Tres Borrachos. Has been facing grade 1 company lately. Ran well on turf at this distance in last where he gave up the lead in the stretch. Likes the Hollywood Park surface and should be there in this one to hit the board.

This should shape up to be a very contentious race today. I see High Court Drama sitting off the pace set by Mast Track and then overtaking them down the stretch. Neko Bay will also be charging along with Tres Borrachos. Hopefully this is helpful to you and god luck today.

5-4-6

ROSARIO GOES FOR 6 AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

I have to start today off by recognizing a great achievement by Joel Rosario yesterday at Hollywood Park. He won 6 straight races on a card of 8 races. His mount in the 7th was scratched and he finished second in the first race. He Tied the mark set by Bill Shoemaker, Laffit Pincay Jr. and Kent Desoreaux. What made the feat so amazing was the fact that he rode and won for six different trainers. Truly a great accomplishment. Rosario now is on top of the jockey standings with 31 victories, eight ahead of Rafael Bejarano.

EARLY PICK 4 TICKET AT HOLLYWOOD PARK TOMORROW

After handicappingTomorrow's card it looks good. The early pick 4 seems very hittable. There are a couple different ways to approach it. I don't think it is going to pay tremendous, so keeping the cost of the ticket down will be the key. I will put out a few different tickets, and then you can decide which way you want to go.
In the first race, I really like the 5-Sky Marn. This race ought to set up perfectly for her. There is a lot of speed to her inside and this horse likes to close. I also will include the 3-Silent Stalk. This horse has speed, but can quite possibly sit right behind the 1 and 2 horses who should be out front. If she goes with them, Sky Marn will take this race.
In race 2 I will single the 4-Big Bertha. This horse has the highest beyer speed figures and should be able to sit off the pace and close. She looks awfully tough in here.
In race 3 I go three deep. My top pick is the 6-Fashion Trend, I think this horse should get it done in here today. She closed well last time to be beaten by a half a length and also has all three beyers higher than anyone in this race. There does not seem to be much speed in the race so I also will include the 3-Crisp and the 4-Empire Spring. Crisp closed well in her last and stretching out this time could allow her to get it done. Sadler is also having a good meet. The 4-Empire Spring had her debut at this distance and showed a good work on 11/30 over this track.
In race 4 I went three deep again. The 2-Green Card James, ran a good 5th in the Snow Chief back in April over this track and has shown some good works. The 5-Final Journey, has shown the ability to close, but needs some pace and I don't know if he will get it in here. The 7-Joe Carl has good beyer speed figures and is turning back in distance. Spawr is .33 and this horse has ran well over this surface.
I think you can take down this pick 4 with an 18$ ticket:
3,5
4
3,4,6
2,5,7
I would add the 3 in the second leg if you want to go to 36$
To go a little deeper put a ticket together like this:
1,2,3,4,5
4
3,4,6
2,5,7
A 45$ ticket with 1 single. If you want to spread out in the first race, you might as well buy the race. No sense leaving off 1 horse and you might be able to get a price in the first.
So there you have it. Hope you do well at hollywood Park tomorrow and let's take down this early pick 4. Good luck.

HOLLYWOOD PARK PICK 6

Well, it was a tough loss in the pick6 today. The first single in the 5th race, the 3 horse Siberian Heart makes a great middle move to open up to a lead and then completely blows the turn to finish 3rd. Without that tough loss we pull down the pick6 today paying 1364.00. Not huge but it is a decent payoff. We will get 'em next time.

Off to do more handicapping for tomorrows card. Check back tomorrow for more picks. We are off to a good start with the blog so be sure to check in frequently for more racing picks.

PICK 6 TICKET FOR HOLLYWOOD PARK TOMORROW

This is my ticket for Hollywood Parks pick 6 tomorrow. There are a couple legs in which I thought you could single, and several you need to go deep in. The pick 6 ticket I put together would be 192$.
My singles are in the 5th race and the 6th race. In the 5th race I singled the 3 horse Siberian Heart. Going back to routing and some good recent works, I think could turn the tables on a couple in here. I also singled the 7 horse in the 6th race. Quoted has the top Beyer figures in the race, some good works and O'Niell is good with turf sprinters.
So the ticket looks like this:
1,2,5,6
2,6,7
3
7
4,6
6,7,9,10

Let me know what you think. and good luck in your handicapping tomorrow
